UX/UI & Illustration Design for Colorado Craft Brewery

Dry Dock Brewing is one of the more famous and award-winning breweries in Colorado. As their business grew, and a new tasting room was added to their already popular South Dock location, the company knew that they needed to update their online presence.

I designed a custom site that paid homage to the craftsmanship of old world boat builders and brewers alike, that embraced Dry Dock's unique brand. The theme of the site, based on old-world map drawings and scientific illustrations was a huge undertaking and required a lot of hand-done finishes. I created vintage-style illustrations for all of their 50+ speciality beers, to showcase a old-world feeling that displayed Dry Dock's dedication to the art of brewing. With unique animations and subtle discoverable pieces hidden in each page, this interactive site truly brought the Dry Dock experience to life online.

Project Goals

Currently

1. Highly Visual Brand Refresh

The primary goal of the project was to create a interactive site to showcase the brands beer variations but also the personality and voice of Dry Dock's craft beer. Dry Dock was hoping to expand out of Colorado and become more nationwide brand. The website would be used as solidification of the brand and its beer varieties.

2. Brand Focus on Craft Brewing

The second goal was to show Dry Docks passion for craft brewing as well as the beer masters and makers who work at both North and South dock locations. They have created a craft brewing community, which they wanted to show as well as provide a blog for people to consult when making their own home brews or for more information about Dry Dock's processes.

3. Storytelling Aspect

Along with housing over 50 beer varieties made by Dry Dock, both canned and in bottles the site would also show events, blogs, employees, and history of Dry Dock and its owners. The brand had to be fully fleshed out and provide a story telling element to the site to make it more emotionally connected to its visitors.

4. Connection to Sister Brand Brew Hut

With its deep connection to craft brewing and the homebrewing community of Colorado, Dry Dock also owns and shared a physical location with a brewing supply store called Brew Hut. We also we tasked with designing this site which held over 300 types of brewing supplies. The last goal of the site was to link and showcase Brew Hut to also promote this business on the Dry Dock site.
